Year in Review: Look Back, Then Plan Next Year with a Workbook

The end of the year is a natural time to look back before you plan ahead. This guide shows how to use a printable year-in-review workbook, from remembering the year you had to choosing a handful of goals and a simple plan. It is a personal reflection tool and makes no promises about results.

Start by looking back

The Year in Review and New Year Goals Workbook begins with the look-back pages: a year in numbers, highlights, challenges and lessons, and a month by month page. Work through these first. A quiet evening with a pen is enough, and you do not need to fill every line.

Rate your life areas

Next comes a life areas rating page and a keep, stop, start page. Rate each area the way it feels today, then write what you want to keep doing, what you want to stop and what you want to start. This turns the look-back into a short list of changes.

Choose a few goals

The workbook has a next-year vision page and 5 goal worksheets. You do not have to use all five. Pick the ones that matter most to you, and print extra goal sheets only if you need them.

Build a simple plan

A 12-month roadmap helps you place each goal across the year, and a habits page lets you list the habits you would like to build. The workbook ends with a note to your future self, which you can open at the end of next year.
