How to Use a Printable 12-Week Workout Planner
A workout planner is a place to write down the plan and the numbers so you can see what you did from week to week. This guide walks through a printable 12-week workout planner and shows how each part is meant to be used. It is a tracking tool, not medical advice. Check with a health professional before starting a new exercise program.
Set a goal and starting numbers
The Workout and Fitness Log Printable begins with a 12-week goal page. Write your goal and your starting numbers there, so you have something to compare against later.
Plan each week
There are 12 weekly workout planners, one for each week. Each has boxes for your wins and for next week, so you can finish a week by noting what went well and what you want to do next. The pages are undated, so you can begin whenever you like.
Log each session
For strength work, the planner has 8 strength log pages with space for the exercise, five sets and notes, and there is a cardio log for runs, rides or classes. The pages are simple on purpose, so they fit any kind of training: lifting, running, classes or walking. Write the date and the exercise at the top of the page, fill in the sets as you go and use the notes line for anything you want to remember next time.
Track records, measurements and habits
- A personal records page for your best numbers
- Monthly body measurements, if you want to record them
- A month review page
- A water, sleep and movement tracker (31 days, 8 habits) and a notes page
The water, sleep and movement tracker covers 31 days and 8 habits, so one page is enough for a month, and the month review page gives you a place to look back at the end of it. You choose which of these to use. Skip any page you do not need.
How it is meant to be used
- Download and print.
- Set your goal and starting numbers.
- Plan each week and log each session.
Printing and paper
The printable comes as two PDFs, US Letter and A4, with 29 pages each. The pages are undated and single sided. Five color sets are included in the download: Classic Green, Ocean Blue, Charcoal Gray, Sunset Orange and Plum Purple. A clipboard or a binder is handy for taking the pages to the gym.
